Glossary

ACP (Agent Cooperation Protocol)

A protocol developed by Virtuals Protocol that lets AI agents hire each other for tasks. One agent posts a job with a payment, another agent completes it and submits a deliverable, and the payment is released on-chain. web3agent exposes 8 ACP tools for creating, funding, submitting, completing, and claiming ACP jobs.

aGDP (Agent GDP Marketplace)

A marketplace for AI agent services built on Virtuals Protocol. Agents can publish offerings (services they provide) and other agents or users can hire them. web3agent includes 5 aGDP tools for discovering and interacting with the marketplace.

Chain ID

A numeric identifier that uniquely identifies an EVM-compatible blockchain. For example, Ethereum mainnet is 1, Base is 8453, and Arbitrum is 42161. Chain IDs prevent transactions signed for one network from being replayed on another.

Confirmation Queue

A safety mechanism in web3agent that holds write operations (swaps, transfers, contract writes) in a queue until a human explicitly approves them. Enabled by default via CONFIRM_WRITES=true. Each queued operation gets a confirmation ID that must be passed to transaction_confirm before the transaction executes.

dLIMIT (Decentralized Limit Order)

An Orbs Protocol order type that executes a trade when the output token reaches a specified minimum price. Unlike centralized limit orders, dLIMIT orders are executed by a decentralized network of keepers and settle on-chain. Prepared with prepareLimitIntent().

dTWAP (Decentralized Time-Weighted Average Price)

An Orbs Protocol order type that splits a large trade into equal chunks and executes them over a defined time window. This reduces price impact on large trades by spreading execution across time. Prepared with prepareTwapIntent().

EIP-712

An Ethereum standard for structured data signing. Instead of signing a raw hash, the user signs a human-readable typed data structure. web3agent uses EIP-712 for Orbs intent signing, which lets users review exactly what they're approving before signing.

ERC-8004

An on-chain standard for AI agent identity and reputation. Agents can register themselves on-chain with metadata, and other agents or users can submit reputation feedback. web3agent exposes 5 ERC-8004 tools for agent registration and feedback.

ESM (ECMAScript Modules)

The modern JavaScript module system using import and export syntax. web3agent is published as ESM only and does not support CommonJS (require()). All imports within the codebase use the .js file extension, which is required for Node.js ESM compatibility.

GOAT SDK

An open-source toolkit for integrating DeFi protocols into AI agents. web3agent uses GOAT SDK plugins to add support for Uniswap, Balancer, ERC-20/721 operations, ENS resolution, DexScreener data, 0x swaps, and CoinGecko prices.

LI.FI

A cross-chain bridge and swap aggregator that routes transactions across 20+ blockchains. web3agent integrates LI.FI for bridge quotes, execution, and intent preparation. The lifi_* tools and prepareBridgeIntent() SDK function use this integration.

MCP (Model Context Protocol)

An open protocol developed by Anthropic that standardizes how AI models communicate with external tools and data sources. web3agent implements MCP over stdio transport, which lets AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, OpenCode) discover and call blockchain tools automatically.

Orbs Protocol

A DeFi infrastructure protocol that provides aggregated liquidity (Liquidity Hub), decentralized limit orders (dLIMIT), time-weighted average price orders (dTWAP), and Spot orders (stop-loss, take-profit). web3agent's orbs_* tools and intent preparation functions use Orbs as the execution layer.

Policy Engine

A spend-limit enforcement system in web3agent for autonomous agents. When enabled (POLICY_ENABLED=true), it tracks cumulative USD spend and rejects transactions that would exceed POLICY_MAX_SINGLE_TX_USD or POLICY_MAX_DAILY_USD. Designed to cap the financial exposure of agents running without human oversight.

Runtime

A web3agent instance with all tools loaded, a wallet configured, and connections to the relevant chains and APIs established. The createRuntime() function from "web3agent/runtime" creates a runtime programmatically. The MCP server creates one automatically at startup.

Spot Order

An Orbs Protocol order type for conditional trades. Stop-loss orders (sell when price drops below a threshold) and take-profit orders (sell when price rises above a threshold) are both implemented as Spot orders with different trigger configurations. Prepared with prepareOrderIntent().

Tool

A function exposed via the MCP protocol that AI agents can discover and call. Each tool has a name, a description, an input schema (Zod-validated), and a risk level (safe, financial, or destructive). web3agent exposes 100+ tools across 16 groups.

veNFT (Vote-Escrowed NFT)

A non-fungible token representing a locked governance position in ve(3,3) DeFi protocols. The holder locks tokens for a period of time in exchange for voting power and protocol rewards. The longer the lock, the more voting power the veNFT carries.

viem

A TypeScript library for interacting with EVM blockchains. web3agent uses viem internally for all on-chain reads and writes: balance queries, contract calls, transaction broadcasting, ENS resolution, and more. The evm_* tools are powered by viem.

X-402

An HTTP-native payment protocol that lets AI agents pay for API resources using stablecoins. A server returns a 402 Payment Required response with payment details; the agent pays and retries the request. web3agent includes 2 X-402 tools for checking requirements and fetching paid resources.
